FAURÉ Suite Pelléas et Mélisande, Op. 80
COPLAND Concerto for Clarinet
SIBELIUS Karelia Suite, Op. 11
SIBELIUS Symphony No. 7 in C major, Op. 105

Roderick Dunk – Conductor
Katherine Lacy – Clarinet

Katherine Lacy is one of the country’s most exciting Clarinettists, having held principal positions with several UK orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. She is also in great demand as a soloist and makes her second appearance with the RTWSO playing the Copland concerto. The piece was commissioned by clarinettist Benny Goodman and has a strong jazz influence.

Fauré and Sibelius provide a variety of style to this concert. In the Karelia Suite, keen ears will recognise the theme tune of the TV programme ‘This Week’, and the symphony which follows is in the unusual form of just one movement.
