The Bevern Trust brings an autumnal flair to Barcombe with inaugural Scarecrow Competition
More Information (Ashdown Radio is not responsible for external websites)
The Bevern Trust has launched our first-ever Scarecrow Competition in Barcombe, a community-wide event celebrating creativity and the spirit of musical theatre. Open to residents of Barcombe and surrounding villages, the competition invites households, businesses, and local organisations to craft and display scarecrows with a “Musicals” theme throughout October. Participants have already delighted locals with characters such as Wicked’s witches, Bert from Mary Poppins, and the colourful Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat!
These scarecrow displays can be enjoyed throughout the month in gardens and businesses across the village, creating an exciting build-up to the main event. The grand judging will take place on Monday 4th November, at 2.30 pm on Barcombe High Street, with judging by the Trust’s patron, Natasha Kaplinsky, and residents of Bevern View. The Bevern Trust welcomes everyone to join in this celebration, witness the crowning of the top scarecrow, and be part of this special community event supporting The Bevern Trust.
Natasha Kaplinsky, Patron of The Bevern Trust explains:
“This is a fantastic opportunity for the whole community to come together, share in creativity and fun, and support the incredible work of The Bevern Trust, which provides exceptional residential care for profoundly disabled young adults. I’m honoured to be their patron and to support them however I can.”
The suggested entry fee is £10, with all proceeds supporting the Space to Thrive appeal, so that we can extend the home to create a dedicated activity space and staff room. Donations are welcome online at www.beverntrust.org, by phone at 01273 400752 or in person at Bevern View, The Willows, Barcombe, BN8 5FJ.
