More Information (Ashdown Radio is not responsible for external websites)
Each August we replace our usual local history talk with a walk around areas of the town of historic interest.
This year Brian Phillips will lead a walk lasting about an hour, exploring the New Town area of Uckfield. This area grew rapidly after the coming of the railway to Uckfield in 1859, and developed into a thriving community. The walk will feature schools, pubs, a convent, a brewery, post office and a newly-controversial old memorial. You may remember some, but probably not all, of the landmarks that you will come across.
There is no need to book in advance for this walk - just meet Brian outside Bridge Cottage, ready to set out at 7-00pm.
