Mayfield School's Equestrian team won two National titles last weekend at the NSEA (National Schools Equestrian Association) Inter-County Dressage & Show Jumping Championships at Hickstead.
In Dressage, Mayfield won the Inter-County Team Championships for a fifth year in succession, with the team comprising Year 13 students Eloise, Alice and Isabella. Eloise also came out on top in the individual standings, winning the Preliminary County Dressage Title.
Mayfield's Showjumping Team, featuring Ella, Anabelle, Daisy and Eloise, followed this up by winning the InterCounty 1m Showjumping Title for the second year in a row. Mayfield's Equestrian Captain, Ella, said: "Each member performed amazingly on the day to come together as a team and finish with 0 faults.
A huge thank you to my teammates and to those who helped and supported us, making it a memorable day." Mayfield's Director of Riding, Jill Barker, commented: "I was delighted for the girls, many of whom have competed for the School since they joined in Year 7.
What is particularly satisfying is many of them are riding young horses that they have produced through the levels by themselves. This competition marks the end of an era, and there is now a wonderful opportunity for our younger riders to step into their shoes.” Located in 75 acres of beautiful Sussex countryside, Mayfield School has a long tradition of horse riding, catering for all abilities, from beginners to those who ride for fun to those who wish to compete.
The equestrian facilities include a purpose-built Equestrian Centre on site with stables for 30 horses, as well as an Olympic sized indoor and outdoor sand school.
