A second half brace from Marcus Sablier saw Lewes claim an impressive 3-1 win against title hopefuls Dartford, as The Rooks now make it three wins in a row.
Elsewhere, Crowborough Athletic made it five league wins in a row as they comfortably beat Midhurst & Ease 4-0 to remain in the playoff spots, while AFC Uckfield Town claimed their first win under interim manager Graham Holman in their 1-0 victory against Arundel, as Jarvis Brook were held to a 3-3 draw with the St Francis Rangers.
In the Mid Sussex Leagues, Rotherfield earned a convincing 4-1 win away against Godstone, while Ridgewood narrowly lost 2-1 versus the Crawley Devils, as Barcombe lost 1-0 against Oxted & District 2nd’s.
Meanwhile, Buxted made it into the Stratford Cup semi finals on penalties against Ansty FC, drawing 2-2 in regular time before their 4-3 win in the shootout, as Nutley drew 2-2 with Southwick, while Plumpton Athletic narrowly lost 4-3 in their end to end clash with Keymer & Hassocks.
Lastly in the men’s, league leading Newick earned a crucial 2-1 win against Maresfield Village to stay top of the table by two points, while Hartfield’s hard fought 1-0 win against their title rivals Welcroft Park Rangers means they sit top of their division three points clear.
Now in women’s football, Lewes were held to a 0-0 draw on the road against eighth place Cardiff City, while the point means The Rooks remain sixth in the standings.
Over to the men’s rugby, Crowborough narrowly lost against third in the league Bromley 38-31, while Heathfield & Waldron were defeated 43-26 by Beccehamian.
Lastly in the men’s, Uckfield secured their title after they were awarded a walkover against Hove 2nd’s, while Newick lost out 61-21 against Burgess Hill..
Finally in the women’s rugby, Heathfield & Waldron claimed an important 43-14 victory against Jersey that saw them move to the top of the league, four points ahead of Dartford Valley but having played two games more.
