Now Construction appointed to build new sustainable business units in Crowborough

Now Construction has been selected by Wealden District Council to construct the new commercial units at the Wealden Business Centre on Farningham Road in Crowborough.

The project, approved last year by Wealden councillors, is expected to start on site in March and is expected to take approximately eight months to complete.

The new units will be built to a high specification with a focus on sustainability. Features include:

· Energy Efficiency: High levels of insulation and roof-mounted solar panels with battery storage.

· Electric Vehicle Charging: EV charge points for tenants.

· Functional Design: Roller shutter and personnel doors, plus generous parking and turning space.

· Mezzanine Option: Designed for tenant-installed mezzanine floors (subject to necessary consents).

· Green Space: The development will be surrounded by new and existing soft landscaping.

The units are suitable for businesses classified under B2, B8 and E use classes (motor trade businesses excluded) and will come with a build guarantee.

Councillor Kelvin Williams, Alliance for Wealden (Liberal Democrat) and lead councillor for Public Health and Asset Management, said, “We are pleased to move forward with this project and partner with Now Construction to deliver high-quality, sustainable business units that meet the needs of the local business community, along with providing a wider set of community benefits which accords with the council’s adopted strategies."

Jason Wellard, managing director from Now Construction, said, “We are delighted to be appointed by Wealden District Council as their construction partner and look forward to working with the team to transform this site into a development of modern, sustainable business units for the local community.”

Ana Christie, CEO at the Sussex Chamber of Commerce stated “There is a great need to increase much needed employment land in the county, whilst protecting the natural environment and building in a more sustainable way. As the construction and development commences, this is an opportunity to allow the local supply chain and local businesses to be involved in delivering the scheme. This new development will also help attract new businesses to drive economic growth”.
