Starting on Friday 7 February 2025, Bridge Cottage will be open to visitors each Friday morning, 10-00 to 12-00. There will be no need to book, nor will there be an admission fee. There will not be a guided tour – visitors will be given a ‘self-guide’ leaflet, pointing out main features around the Cottage, and will then be free to explore on their own. A Bridge Cottage volunteer will be available to answer questions if required.
Bridge Cottage, a Grade II listed building, sits at the southern end of Uckfield High Street. It underwent extensive restoration in 2016, funded by the National Lottery. This brought the building up to modern standards, with wi-fi, underfloor heating and a small kitchen. Electrical istallations, fire escapes and alarms meet current standards. However, the Cottage retains period features, and now looks much as it did in about 1600.
The purpose of these Friday morning openings is to let people see inside Bridge Cottage informally.
We look forward to welcoming visitors.
