Wealden District Council will benefit from £418,647
The Government is helping Ukrainian guests move into their own homes as part of a £150 million fund.
The funding can be used by councils to help Ukrainian families into the private rental sector, help them get jobs, and continue sponsorship for guests’ second year in the UK.
This funding forms part of the wider £650 million support package for Ukrainians announced in December, on top of the £1.1 billion already provided to councils through a tariff and thank you payments for each arrival in their area.
Wealden District Council will benefit from £418,647 from this fund to offer support to over 600 guests currently living in Wealden.
Nusrat Ghani MP said: “Wealden has led the way in providing support to Ukrainian families arriving to East Sussex. Since the start of the Homes for Ukraine scheme I have been working closely with local volunteer groups such as MAYFACS regarding visa applications in order to secure faster and safer arrivals to Wealden and I am immensely grateful for the kindness and hospitality of Wealden residents involved in local support. I appreciate that some Ukrainian families may wish to move on into their own accommodation and I am pleased that Wealden is being supported by over £400,000 Government funding to help Ukrainian guests into employment and long-term suitable accommodation.”
