Stretfeild House development receives £300,000 funding

The site in Southview Drive, Uckfield, has been awarded the money from the government’s Brownfield Land Release Fund 2.

Streatfeild House is a former retirement living scheme, which was owned by Wealden District Council, and planning permission has been granted for it to be demolished and new affordable carbon zero ready homes built in its place. Work is due to start on the project this spring.

The Brownfield Land Release Fund 2 is designed to help councils transform unused, redundant or derelict sites into high quality homes for their communities. It forms part of the government’s plan to level up the country, ensuring local areas can achieve their full potential, and build more of the right homes in the right places.

The new Wealden District Council development will provide 20 new homes, with two being suitable for wheelchair users with the remainder built to accessible standards.

The homes will also be energy efficient with high levels of insulation, heat pumps and solar panels.
