The PS Waverley is the last fully operational Paddle Steamer in the world and is set to return to the East Sussex coast this year.
As a child growing up in East Sussex in the 80's and 90's, you may recall going on a boat trip off the beautiful promenade at Eastbourne. Many of us remember boarding the William Allchorn or The Southern Queen and taking a trip to Beachy Head and the world famous lighthouse.
Or perhaps, you were more of a thrill seeker and preferred holding on for dear life as you were thrown around on the 007 speedboat from Eastbourne Pier?
It's been announced today that the PS Waverley, which is the last fully operational Paddle Steamer in the world, is set to return to the sunshine coast later this year following a successful inspection of the landing platform belonging to Eastbourne Pier.
The PS Waverley served the Sussex coastline docking at East Sussex Piers in the 1950’s to early 1990’s but sadly due to multiple factors was unable to serve the Sussex coastline.
