Preparations are underway for this year’s Remembrance services and parade in Uckfield. Arrangements will return to those used in 2019, in line with the UK Government’s current guidance on covid restrictions.
Key community groups and organisations, as well as members of the public are invited to pay their respects at the following services:
Armistice Day – Friday 11 November 2022
There will be a short service and the firing of maroons at the War Memorial at the Church of the Holy Cross at 1100hrs on the morning of Armistice Day.
Service at Eugene Segher’s Memorial – Sunday 13 November 2022
There will be a Simple Act of Remembrance at the Eugene Seghers Memorial in the grounds of the Highlands Inn. The event will culminate in the observance of the national two-minute silence at 1100hrs and the laying of wreaths and other tributes. Those attending can gather from 1015hours, the service will commence at 1045hours.
Annual Parade and Remembrance Service – Sunday 13 November 2022
The annual parade and Remembrance Service will then take place at The Church of Holy Cross, Belmont Road, Uckfield on Sunday 13 November 2022 at 1500hrs.
The parade will form at the north end of Luxfords Car Park, and will proceed to The Church of the Holy Cross for the Remembrance Service via Civic Approach, Uckfield High Street and Church Street. After the service and laying of the wreaths, the parade will reform and return to Luxfords Car Park via Church Street, Uckfield High Street and Library Way where the Mayor of Uckfield Councillor Jackie Love, will take the salute.
The itinerary is as follows:
1400 hrs Guests and participants meet at Luxfords Car Park (10hr section - TN22 1AL)
1425 hrs Form Parade
1435 hrs Parade departs for the Church of the Holy Cross
1500 hrs Remembrance Service at The Church of the Holy Cross
1550 hrs Exit Church, wreath laying and playing of the Last Post
1610 hrs Parade reforms and returns to Luxfords Car Park via Library

The Uckfield Branch of the Royal British Legion has been working closely with Uckfield Town Council and Holy Cross Church to complete the necessary risk assessments, and preparations for this year’s parade.
