Local Uckfield resident Darren Barton has undertaken a massive challenge, by taking part in a 24 hour darts marathon to raise money for Bowel Cancer UK.
Darren, was sadly diagnosed with the disease back in 2020, at the age of 36. Thankfully, after undergoing surgery, he is now cancer free but has a permanent colostomy.
The darts marathon got underway at 7.30pm on Friday evening and went through to 7.30pm on the evening of Saturday 23rd March. During those 24 hours, 11,729 darts were thrown, resulting in 578 games of 501.
Darren won an outstanding 485 games and lost only 93 against his opponents. He also hit a total of 1,327 scores of 100 or more, which included 96 180s!
He told Ashdown Radio, "The support was fantastic and so far I’ve raised over £1,500 for Bowel Cancer UK. I am struggling to walk and my arm hurts but need to recover quick as my next challenge is a tough mudder on 6th April."
