It's great to see the community coming together
Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden, has attended the Volunteer Fair hosted by Uckfield Volunteer Centre to promote local charities and the wide variety of volunteering opportunities available in and around Uckfield.
The Uckfield Volunteer Centre is a prominent and long-established local charity, providing support to over 80 businesses, organisations and charities not only in Uckfield and the surrounding areas, but also from across Wealden, through matching individuals and groups with available volunteering opportunities. It also provides free advertising for organisations looking to fill volunteer roles, and offers a community hub to the public at its shop on Uckfield’s High Street.
The Volunteer Fair took place in the Uckfield Civic Centre and showcased a wide range of local charities, many of whom Nusrat is already closely collaborating with, including Care for the Carers, Uckfield Men’s Shed, Crowborough’s Artytime, Brighter Uckfield, Uckfield Heritage, the Royal British Legion, Uckfield & District Lions Club, Sheffield Park, Sussex Support Service and many others.

Nusrat Ghani said: “I was pleased to visit the Volunteer Fair in Uckfield and meet with Judith Austin, the Uckfield Volunteer Centre manager to learn more about its services and plans for the future. We are lucky to have so many wonderful Wealden charities who contribute so much to local communities and I am proud to continue working with them and supporting their work. The Uckfield Volunteer Centre is a fantastic resource for advertising available roles and coordinating volunteer-led efforts locally. If you can, please do take a moment to visit their website to find out more and consider getting involved. Whether you have the odd spare hour, or would like to help out regularly, Uckfield Volunteer Centre will find the right opportunity for you.”
