Wealden Community Lottery hits another milestone

The Wealden Community Lottery has raised £100K for local good causes and the central fund combined.

Over the past 18 months, a total of £100K has been raised for good causes and the central fund combined which has had 3,603 winners, totalling combined cash prizes of £14,700 and a total of 10,809 free tickets have been won.

The Wealden Community Lottery was set up by Wealden District Council in 2023 and is managed by external lottery provider Gatherwell. It is an online fundraising platform designed to help local organisations to diversify their fundraising streams – and enable year-round fundraising in a safe, fun and effective way.

Not-for-profit organisations such as charities, sports clubs, residents’ associations, community groups, parish councils, village halls and PTAs are all welcome to join the lottery and are encouraged to sign up to start raising funds from the lottery.

Registration is completely free, and marketing materials are provided for each organisation to have their own dashboard on the Wealden Community Lottery website.

Councillor Rachel Millward, Alliance for Wealden (Green Party) and lead councillor for Community, Culture and Communications and leader of the council

said, “The Wealden Community Lottery has helped 100 good causes across Wealden and continues to grow with residents supporting the causes and the lottery. There are 1,082 players participating in the lottery weekly and 2,077 tickets sold each week. We are very proud of the lottery and what it has become over the last 18 months. The success of the lottery wouldn’t have been possible without the great support from players and good causes signing up. The lottery has made a difference to many local communities.”

Groombridge Post Office has generated more than £2,000 since signing up to the Wealden Community Lottery and has used the funds to help promote services and encourage new users.

Rotherfield St. Martin has used the community lottery to fund and develop their core services and projects. To see more about their future plans, click here.

From every ticket sale, the chosen cause receives 50% from the sale of each £1 ticket with an additional 10% going to further support the local community. There are weekly cash prizes to be won up to the value of the £25,000 jackpot and with 50:1 odds of winning a prize, it’s a low-risk fun way for residents to help support their local community.
