Crowborough Athletic progressed into the next round of the national FA Vase after a three-nil home win over Midhurst and Easebourne.
There were plenty of goals in the games involving our other local teams.
In Division Two of the Southern Combination League, Jarvis Brook went to the top of the table with a seven-three victory over Upper Beeding.
In the Mid Sussex League, Uckfield United beat Ridgewood Reserves five-one. Nutley were five-three winners over Burgess Hill Rhinos. Barcombe defeated Fletching three-two, while Hartfield won four-three at Southgate United and Plumpton crushed Lectern Lights Reserves ten-two.
Elsewhere, there were defeats for Rotherfield, Buxted and Newick.
Lewes ended off a disappointing week with a two-one defeat at Billericay in the Isthmian Premier Division.
Meanwhile, it was a fourth successive draw for Lewes ladies, as they shared the points in a two-all draw at home to Sheffield United. Brighton ladies had a two-one win over Reading at the Amex Stadium. And, in their first match of the season, AFC Uckfield Town’s ladies beat Newhaven three-nil.
In rugby union, there was a heavy defeat for Uckfield, who were crushed by local rivals East Grinstead by 58 points to three. And there was defeat too for Crowborough, who were beaten 29 points to 17 by Heathfield and Waldron.
