A great weekend was had in the sun
Sussex Cricket closed out Day 1 of their clash with Worcestershire strongly in the County Championship, recovering from a slow start of 120-5 to reach 338-9 before bad light brought an end to proceedings, with Sussex local Oli Carter leading the side with 76 runs.
In the local leagues, Crowborough beat a strong Selmeston and Alciston side by five wickets to move second in the table, as first placed Mayfield’s 3rd XI beat Uckfield Anderida by a resounding nine wicket margin.
Buxted Park narrowly lost by 31 runs to Crowhurst Park, Isfield lost to top of the table Hailsham by 78 runs and Plumpton & East Chiltington fell by 22 runs to Southwater.
In the Division 5 East, Newick suffered a heavy 153 run defeat to top of the league Herstmonceux, as Barcombe beat Ringmer by two wickets, and Fletching earned their second win of the season by 122 runs against Pevensey.
Lastly on the cricket, Rotherfield came out on top in their clash with Nutley, winning by 42 runs, Blackboys beat Ringmer’s 2nd XI by two wickets, as Hadlow Down moved into second place with a resounding 166 run win against Streat & Westmeston.
